Well I think it is fairer to say that the career of Enya ran parallel to that of Fraser, but they are both from the same part of the world and similar age, so it is certainly possible. I think the first thing I noticed about Heaven or Las Vegas (an album I love to bits) was the resemblance of the choruses in many songs to the chorus of Abba songs such as Dancing Queen. Liz would have grown up with this music.

CT and Liz Fraser work is years before Enya… ABBA, dont think, very different aproach to singing…

ezraezra22 on 25 July, 2008 at 8:02 am #

her eyes are rather mezmorizing

ChuckAudio1969 on 28 July, 2008 at 9:59 am #

Its amazing how this song can feel like a warm soothing bath and give me chills at the same time.

You know what I think is disrespectful to Liz Fraser, or any artist. To refuse to acknowledge their influences. In Fraser’s case I would suggest certainly Abba, and possibly Cass Elliott (listen to Dedicated to the One I Love, recorded circa 1967) and possibly Enya as well in some of the CT’s less mainstream work, not particularly this album though.

Sorry, but compare Liz with Enya is a grave disrespect fot La Frazer….

The greatest band in the entire world. Period.

zachtblauw on 5 August, 2008 at 10:27 pm #

Sorry, I was confused

Watch the clock, and click the pause button right as the time changes to :47 and there she is on the left side of the video with a gorgeous smile. Click pause again, right as the clock hits 2:05, and now she is on the right side, with nice bedroom eyes.

Unless our computers operate differently, I really don’t know how it can be missed. Sorry if it’s not working for you. Anyone else?..or, am I way off here?

zachtblauw on 11 August, 2008 at 9:21 am #

your times don’t seem to be accurate? i at least cannot discern a smile at :47 nor can i naughty eyes at 2:05

noradosmith on 12 August, 2008 at 12:00 am #

Yep she is.

See, the 80s were actually quite rewarding after all. Who thought anyone could be worse than RR, then it happened. At any rate this stuff is good!

777pusher on 14 August, 2008 at 6:15 pm #

Especially the cute smile at :47, and the somewhat “naughty” eyes at 2:05.

She is beautiful in so many ways far beyond her physical looks, and I adore her, though I do not know her, nor have I ever seen her in person. The CT’s music has embedded a warm and medicating cell, somewhere in my being, that I can call on to heal myself whenever I need to.

catman08012 on 16 August, 2008 at 4:06 am #

Has anybody even notice how absolutely beautiful Elizabeth is in this video. goves me the chills!

tranquil87 on 18 August, 2008 at 11:10 pm #

Now THIS is a kick *** music video. Ethereal, creative, and leaving a pleasant after image! Not to mention that the Cocteau Twins songs are just the same. It’s a shame that they’re not around anymore.

milllipede on 28 August, 2008 at 7:20 pm #

“Isengard Unleashed” from the two towers soundtrack has Elizabeth Fraser doing vocals. I think she’s in the lothlorien theme from the first film too.

davalos8000 on 31 August, 2008 at 11:43 am #

Yma Sumac and Miriam Makeba have just gone to Heaven, so far above and beyond tawdry Las Vegas. Q.E.P.D.

You’ll find so much to enjoy, coolioto! I’ve been a huge fan since ‘83, and I was so sorry they disbanded 10 or so years ago, but meanwhile, what an incredible body of work, from the early, post-punk stuff on to their otherworldly dream-scape, semi-pop-like sound - actually, it’s impossible to describe and has to be experienced - best done with a good set of headphones! Have fun!
